More infomation about the class:  Modern Basics is a class geared towards those who want to invite play within their body. Each class starts with a 'Dance Party' to loosen one up in their space followed by a teaching of set movements. My choreography tends to lean towards the use of spirals, arms, hands, gaze with the eyes and emotional intention. I offer the opportunity to explore a 'character' with these set movements to allow you to discover new shapes for yourself within your body. Class ends with a closing 'Dance Party'.

Accessibility: Please let us know if you have any access needs we should be aware of when you register for the class. Currently we have Closed Captions (CC) for our classes.

ASL Interpretation: This Zoom class will have ASL interpreters.

You will also receive a reminder email with the same information, 1 hour before the event.

Cost: We have a suggested donation of $5-15. Your donations directly go towards paying our instructors and allows us to offer these dance classes available for all abilities! If you are not able to donate at this time, we still hope to see you there! Just make sure to select "Free" when you register.

More information about instructor: The most beautiful things in the world can not be seen or even touched; they must be felt with the heart". - Hellen Keller This quote was given to Anna on a bracelet from her mother as a young child and continues to ground Anna in her pursuits with dance, performance, choreography and life as a D/deaf/Hoh individual. Anna is currently a freelancer within NYC and the Bay Area. An avid lover of adventure, Anna recently joined Omnium circus, is a choreographic recipient of CUNY Dance initiative for Social Justice in collaboration with BAX/Brooklyn College and completed a Disabled Artist residency with Dance.NYC and Gibney. Anna is interested in offering space for those who are interested in dance but don't know where to start. Anna is a BFA dance graduate from Mason Gross School of the Arts with time studying in Jerusalem at the Jerusalem Academy of Music and Dance.
